The 2004-05 season continues our popular Subscription Series, Parks Concert Series, and Around Town concerts. Have a look - there's something here for everyone. Our MicroBand will continue to present mini-concerts - generally taking a subset of the band into a senior center or similar location.

Fall Concert in the Park

The band's first outdoor concert of the season will present plenty of old favorites .. and a new favorite or two, as well! Bring the whole family, spread out a blanket, and enjoy a picnic dinner as the stars come out at this free concert.

The North By Northwest concert will be a preview of the concert to be performed at the Western International Band Clinic in Seattle, WA on November 21, 2004. Our special Guest Artists will be the Austin Flute Choir.

The first Subscription Series concert of the year will be presented in the Reagan High School Performing Arts Center.

"Cars...Trains...Boats...Planes"
Subscription Series Concert #2


Our second Subscription Series concert presents music inspired by various modes of transportation. From the automobile and train to the stately procession of the Tall Ships at the American Bicentennial and the Sound of Freedom as the jet aircraft zoom overhead, composers have created music in tribute to these means of getting around. Every selection on this program has something to do with one of these types of transportation.

"The British Are Coming!"
Subscription Series Concert #3
Special Guest Artist: Brent Phillips, Trombone.

Our final Subscription Series concert of the season presents music from the United Kingdom. Join us on a musical expedition through the diverse countries that make up the UK. March along with the British Eighth, take a visit to The Strand, greet the Mad Major, and even view Paris from the perspective of a British composer. While on the trip, enjoy our special guest artist, Brent Phillips, Trombone as he performs the T-Bone Concerto (Three movements - are you ready for this? - Rare, Medium, Well Done). Finish up with a trip to visit Scotland's Blue Bells (with Brent Phillips), and finally, dance a jig in Ireland.

Brent Phillips joined the faculty of Baylor University in the fall of 2004 as Assistant Professor of Trombone. Formerly a member of "The President's Own" US Marine Band in Washington DC, he is also principal trombone of the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra in Pennsylvania. He has been a frequent soloist with the Marine Band during the summer concert series on the National Mall and Wolf Trap Farm Park in Northern Virginia. In the fall of 2000, Mr. Phillips was a featured soloist on the Marine Band's fifty-two day national concert tour throughout the Southeast performing Arthur Pryor's "Blue Bells of Scotland."

This season's Runout Concert takes place in Georgetown, Texas, at the Georgetown High School Fine Arts Center.

The concert will be an Encore Presentation of the third Subscription Series concert, "The British Are Coming!" and is sponsored by the Georgetown High School Band.   As before, this concert will feature special Guest Soloist Brent Phillips, Trombone.

Father's Day in the Park

ASB celebrates your Dad with this annual concert at the Zilker Hillside Theatre. July 4th Celebration!

Once again, the band will perform in front of a crowd of thousands at Round Rock's Old Settlers Park. Watermelon, music, and fireworks close the season.
