The Austin Symphonic Band presents its traditional fall concert in Zilker Park. Bring a snack and spread your blanket under the pecan trees at the beautiful Hillside Theatre. Then watch the stars come out as the band showcases music as big as the great outdoors.

"The Band Dances"
Subscription Series Concert #1

What has 200 legs and dances? The Austin Symphonic Band, of course. Join us for our first Subscription Series concert of the season as we present a concert of music written for various kinds of dance. Mindful of possible lawsuits and such, the ASB will not actually dance, but will play music that will keep your toes tapping. Please join us for this exciting and interesting concert.

This concert will be presented in the Westlake High School Fine Arts Facility.

Our second Subscription Series concert presents a joint concert with The Austin Civic Orchestra. The ASB was formed by members of the ACO when so many wind players were trying to play with the ACO that they could not be accommodated. They subsequently formed the New River City Winds, which was later re-named to the Austin Symphonic Band. Join ACO director Dr. Lois Ferrari, the ACO, and the ASB for an unforgettable joint concert.

Our final Subscription Series concert of the 2006 - 2007 season celebrates the 25 years that the ASB has been in existence, bringing music to people near and far. We will be premiering Lone Star Legacy, a 25th anniversary commissioned work composed by Randol Alan Bass (the second conductor of ASB) especially for this concert. Both Frank Simon (ASB's first conductor) and Randol Bass will be conducting a piece, and our special Guest Artist will be Charles Villarrubia,Tuba, who will be performing the Gregson Tuba Concerto.

Tickets (Adults - $10.00/ Students and Seniors - $6.00) may be ordered from current Band Members or the ASB Business Office (512-345-7420), or (if paying with a credit card) from AusTIX, (512) 474-TIXS (8497). Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the concert.

ASB celebrates your Dad with this annual concert at the Zilker Hillside Theatre. The band makes its annual appearance at this slice of Americana, along the banks of the Colorado River in Bastrop. The evening (and the season) closes with a fireworks spectacular as the band plays on!
