Want to help the Austin Symphonic Band?
The Austin Symphonic Band is a IRS certified, 501-(c)-3 non-profit
organization. Funds are raised from a variety of sources, including
the general public, band members (via dues and contributions), corporations
and foundations, public funds, and other organizations interested in
promoting community-based concert music. Monetary contributions in any
amount are welcome, and donors will be recognized unless they wish to remain
anonymous. If you'd like to see who ASB's donors and hiring agencies are now, please click here.
If you're interested in making a cash donation to support the band's
efforts (note that our band members are not paid), you can do this
in one of two ways:
- First, via a check written to the "Austin Symphonic Band" and mailed to:
Austin Symphonic Band 7900 Centre Park Drive Suite A Austin, Texas 78754
- Second, via online secure credit card donation (either MasterCard or Visa) by clicking here. This will take you to the
Network for Good web site for donations to
the ASB.
In either case, we will send you a receipt for your donation as soon as
we receive it.
There are other ways to help support the band besides monetary ones. These
include:
- Randalls Good Neighbor Program - if you shop at Randalls,
you probably already use the Remarkable Card for discounts on
certain items. Randalls will donate from 1% of your total purchase
to non-profit organizations that you designate. If you ask your
checker to add Good Neighbor Organization 721 to your Remarkable
Card upon checkout, a percentage of your purchase will be donated to ASB.
In our first full year of participation, this added up to around $500!
- igive.com - An innovative new web site that rewards
non-profit groups when you visit advertiser sites. No cost to you (and no "spam" e-mail, either);
groups receive $0.02 per click from the igive.com home page. Click here for more information on ASB's participation in the program,
or click here to begin the signup process. It's worth $2 to the band just for you to sign up, even if you never visit the site again. Of course, we'd like you to .. as every click from
the igive.com page is worth more money to us!
- Music Donations - the band always is in search of new music to
add to its library. If you've got a favourite work that you'd like to hear,
and it's not in our library, we'd be interested in hearing from you. Of
course, the work does need to fit within the band's performance ability and
goals.
- Hire the band! - ASB has performed for numerous groups in and
around the Austin area. The cost to hire the band is probably less than
you might think .. and we have smaller ensembles (brass quintet, horn
ensemble, etc.) that can be put together as
well. A special new organization, the Austin Symphonic MicroBand, can perform at venues not suitable for a 100-piece concert band. Funds raised in this manner usually go to the band, not the musicians
themselves - so you're helping the whole organization as well as providing
our musicians a performance outlet. You may want to look at the Hiring ASB page for more information. You can
also see a list of some of the other groups who have hired the ASB for
their events.
- In-kind donations - if we can keep from spending money, that's as
good as receiving a cash donation. Some of the things the band can use are
lodging and transportation for our guest artists; music, as mentioned above;
expertise in publicity and program design; and much, much more.
If you're interested in any of these, please contact Dan Wood, ASB's Business
Manager, at (512) 345-7420.
