ASB featured on Huntsville, AL Public Radio
WLRH-FM in Huntsville, AL is a 100,000 watt,
non-commercial public radio station located on the campus of the University of Alabama in Huntsville. One of its many popular programs, since 1976, is
Brass, Reeds and Percussion.
This program, which is broadcast each week at noon on Saturdays, features "the traditional
band sounds and programming, yet offers a taste of new things." The music
typically programmed on the show is from "obtained both commercially and
the military organizations."
Program host Darryl Adams
received a CD of the ASB's 1997
Midwest Clinic performance along with some background information about
the group, and was impressed enough to not only play cuts from the CD on
his show of 22 Jan 2000, but to design a whole show around the theme of
community bands which will "predominately" feature the ASB, as well as using
the recording on future programs.
Of the ASB, Mr. Adams stated: "You are to be complemented on the quality
of the band .. there is quite a variety of music on the CD. [... it is]
interesting, though, that no one is a professional (paid). I think it
is great." So do we!
We thank Mr. Adams for his endorsement of our music and abilities. Isn't
it time you discovered the ASB, too? season schedule
