Letter from Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser
Written after Dr. Tim narrated "Tom Sawyer's Saturday" for ASB at the 1995 Texas Bandmasters' Association
conference
Dear Friends,
Thank-you so much for inviting me to be a part of your feature concert
at the recent TBA gathering. It was a privilege and an honor to join you
and I will fondly remember our short, but wonderful time together.
The band performed beautifully. BRAVO! What a marvelous example
you set for all of us. Certainly there are many personal benefits you
receive from sharing your musical talents with your fellow artists as
well as those who are fortunate enough to attend your concerts, but you
also affirm the reason music is such an integral part of human
expression. You remind all of us how important it is to continue our
own musical journey to add to the joy of living.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention how much your kind words meant
to me. The warmth and beauty of your playing is an extension of the
ensemble's gracious demeanor. Admittedly, it is a temptation to
relocate to Austin simply to be a part of the band. Do you need any
more percussionists?
Please continue to serve as the model for every young instrumentalist.
You do make a difference. Until we meet again, my best wishes for
continued success are extended to each and every member of the band
along with a very special thanks to my dear friend, Richard Floyd. I
wonder if Tom Sawyer had as much fun white-washing the garden fence
as I did with you?
With much gratitude, Back to Reviews |
