Performance Venues
The Austin Symphonic Band performs at a variety of locations in and around the Austin area.
At least two concerts each year are held at the Zilker Park
Hillside
Theatre, a wonderful outdoor venue where patrons sit on grassy hills which
surround the stage. The annual "Blue Santa" benefit concert is
held at the University of Texas' Bates Recital Hall, an intimate performance
space which seats around 700; and, one concert every several years
is normally held at Palmer Auditorium, which seats 2,000-3,000 depending on
the configuration selected. This year's Subscription Series will be held at the Reagan High School Performing Arts Center. The band also performs at various other locations,
including other cities in Central Texas, depending on the needs of the
communities. In the past, a subset of ASB musicians has been
hired for various performances of the Austin Lyric Opera, at Bass Concert Hall.
The band's sheer size prohibits performances in most high school auditoriums, as
well as church settings; however, the band has recently performed at the Reagan and
Pflugerville Performing Arts Centers. Last season the band performed in San
Antonio's Lila Cockrell Theatre, as well as the Grand Ballroom of
the Hilton Towers Hotel in Chicago, Illinois.

The band has been invited to perform at various international venues, but the
logistics (and cost!) of getting time off, etc. for 100 musicians has proved too
daunting to undertake the task. We're starting to seriously consider it, though.
